KARACHI: Sindh chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has de-notified the land committee constituted under Sindh government lands ordinance.
The chief minister, after receiving complaints against Land Committee, has approved its cancellation and directed the chief secretary to issue necessary notification.
It may be noted that under The Sindh Government Land (Cancellation of Allotments, Conversion and Exchange) Ordinance of 2001 all the allotments, conversions and exchange of government lands granted for residential, commercial or industrial purposes at rates lower than market value or in violation of land or ban with effect from January 1985 a committee under a retired was constituted in November 2001.
The committee had determined the market price in all the cases which were leased out from 1985 to 2000 and then regularize the lands after recovery of the differential amount or cancel, as the case may be.
The committee regularized 75 percent of the cases and recovered around Rs9.5 billion differential amount. The chief minister received a number of complaints against the committee, therefore he decided to de-notify it.
